The LA County Fire Fighter Calendar Project began with one primary goal—To give back to the community by honoring and supporting the firefighters who work to keep us and our community safe. Looking to realize this goal, some business friends began brainstorming about ideas and forming a plan. Through this project we endeavor not only to support the firefighters and fire stations, but also to foster interaction within our community and create an exciting project for those collaborating on it. After various options were considered, the FFC concept as abovescheme was chosen.

We visited LACo Fire Station 106 and consulted with Fire Captain Olvera who gave his heartfelt support for the project and introduced us to the leadership at the county headquarters. With the backing of the county HQ, this project officially began its march forward. There have been various uncertainties along the way; however, even when the details of the plan had not yet been clearly defined, there was a gathering of voices saying, “I’ll support your cause”—a gathering of people and businesses helping the project to progress. A small ripple becoming a wave… Next year (2010) we are aiming for the State of California Fire Fighter Calendar Project. After that will be the Fire Fighters of America Project, and the eventual goal is the Fire Fighters of the World Project. This project has grand long-term goals.
